About the Challenge Day animation

The check-in post for a challenge whose whole appeal is the streak. Filling the grid to the day is what makes the number mean something — DAY 14 on its own is a caption, fourteen cells out of thirty is progress. The accent lives inside the grid layer, so the count and the colour cannot be set apart.

Where it fits

  • As the daily check-in for a thirty-day challenge.
  • In a Story, with the day number as the whole message.
  • On a community feed, as the streak post.

Filling it in

Two fields: the kicker names the challenge and the day is DAY 14 or whatever today is. The grid fills to the count the number makes. There is no colour field, since the accent lives inside the grid layer; the count and the colour cannot be set apart.

Format and timing

Challenge Day is built at 1080 × 1080, a square frame, which sits in a feed post without cropping and centres neatly over wider footage, and runs 4 seconds at 30 frames per second. It arrives in 0.5 seconds, holds for 2.9 and clears in 0.7, so cue it a beat before the moment it labels. Export it as an MP4 for a timeline or a feed, a GIF where video will not embed, or a MOV with an alpha channel to lay it over footage with nothing behind it. Renders go up to 4K, and the free plan exports at 720p with a watermark.

Questions about Challenge Day

Does the grid fill to the day I type?

The grid fills to a fixed count near the middle of thirty. Keep the day text roughly in step with it, or read the grid as progress rather than a precise tally.

Can I use it for a 21-day challenge?

The grid has thirty cells. Write DAY 14 OF 21 in the day field and the cells stand for the idea of a streak rather than the exact count.
