Bring a direct message into the edit as a compact notification, with the sender and full thought visible in one glance.
DM Popup can start a story, introduce a client request or show the handoff in a collaborative process. Write a message that sounds like a person rather than exposition and use fictional names for demonstrations. Its small footprint lets the footage continue while the incoming message changes the direction of the scene.
Write the message the way a person types, short and slightly unfinished, and give the sender a plausible name. For anything public, use a made-up name rather than a real client. Keep the message under about forty characters so it reads in one glance, and let the footage keep moving underneath it.
DM Popup is built at 640 × 360, a 16:9 landscape frame, the shape of a YouTube video, a stream layout and most editing timelines, and runs 3 seconds at 30 frames per second. It arrives in 0.7 seconds, holds for 1.3 and clears in 1.0, so cue it a beat before the moment it labels. Export it as an MP4 for a timeline or a feed, a GIF where video will not embed, or a MOV with an alpha channel to lay it over footage with nothing behind it. Renders go up to 4K, and the free plan exports at 720p with a watermark.
None in particular. It is drawn as a generic message notification with a sender and a line of text, so it passes for Slack, WhatsApp or Instagram without borrowing any of their interfaces.
Export a second version with the reply as the message and your name as the sender, then cut them a second apart. Two popups in a row read as a short exchange.
