About the Join The List animation

Social proof does more work than persuasion here: the number is the argument. Use a real figure and let it roll to the true one rather than an inflated target. Suited to the end of an explainer, where the audience has just been given a reason to want more of the same in writing.

Where it fits

  • At the end of an explainer, when the audience wants more in writing.
  • On a launch post for a newsletter, with the reader count as the argument.
  • In a podcast outro, pointing at the written companion.

Filling it in

The reader counter rolls to the figure you type, so use the real number and let it land there rather than an aspirational one. The unit says what the count is, readers or subscribers, and the field text is a sample address. The kicker is the ask.

Format and timing

Join The List is built at 640 × 360, a 16:9 landscape frame, the shape of a YouTube video, a stream layout and most editing timelines, and runs 3 seconds at 30 frames per second. It arrives in 0.7 seconds, holds for 1.3 and clears in 0.9, so cue it a beat before the moment it labels. Export it as an MP4 for a timeline or a feed, a GIF where video will not embed, or a MOV with an alpha channel to lay it over footage with nothing behind it. Renders go up to 4K, and the free plan exports at 720p with a watermark.

Questions about Join The List

What if my list is small?

Then use a different argument. Change the unit to issues and the counter to how many you have sent, or drop the count and use the kicker for what the letter covers.

Is the email field real?

No. It is a drawn field with sample text, so nobody can type into a video. The sign-up happens at the link in your bio or on your site.
