What size should the panel image be?

Square, around 900 pixels, with the content set a little in from the edges. The brackets close on the panel, so a margin keeps your text clear of them.

Why a screenshot rather than a save?

A screenshot leaves the app with the person. A save keeps the post in the app. For a cheat sheet someone wants on their phone, the screenshot is the more useful ask.
